The Reds (and a Pink) The whites

Rose 2009 (South Australian) Riesling 2009 (Adelaide Hills)
Our first Rosé ever, released 2009. A serious well-balanced dry wine, not by any means just a pink lollipop. We guzzled it with delight all last summer. If anything a bit lighter and crisper than the 2008. Pale straw colour, nice flowery Riesling fragrance, appley, citrusy flavours. A must with Coffin Bay oysters.

Pinot Noir 2007 (Geelong) Riesling 2008 (Adelaide Hills)
Our first wine from outside South Australia – we sourced a small parcel of quality fruit from an historic vineyard in the Moorabool Valley. A classy wine from a region known for its excellent Pinots. Our first from the Adelaide Hills – previously our Riesling came from Eden Valley and even further back from our then vineyard at Joanna in what is now Wrattonbully. Not much Riesling planted in the Hills, but it does very well and we are expecting – and getting – good results there.

Shiraz 2006 (Wrattonbully) Riesling 2006 (Eden Valley)
Worthy successor to the 2005, although it may take a bit longer to develop.  Complex berry flavours; earthy, peppery characters typical of the region. Already greeted with praise by many lovers of older Rieslings, it has aged very nicely into a mellow, honey-coloured wine, the way good Rieslings do. A terrific bargain for the many fans of older Rieslings. Serve gently chilled, but not too much.

Shiraz 2005 (Wrattonbully) Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Adelaide Hills)
‘OUTSTANDING’ – ‘GOLD’ – from Winewise, August 2007. The first red wine from our new source vineyard at Joanna (next door to our original vineyard). A great start, with the promise of great things to come. Crisp, clean, dry – but not bone dry – a nice balance of the flinty and the fruity. A typically aromatic Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, demonstrating why the Hills are Australia’s top region for this grape.

Cabernet Merlot 2007 (Wrattonbully) Semillon Chardonnay 2008 (McLaren Vale)
The blend (60:40 in this case) has long been the traditional one for the wines of Bordeaux; for a long time it was our flagship wine and we’re pleased to say IT’S BACK. TOP REVIEW FROM PHILIP WHITE 92++ (Semillon 60%, Chardonnay 40%). A rich baroque wine; flavours of citrus and tropical fruit with some subtle oak. A lush and lovely wine, mellowing all the time with bottle age.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (Wrattonbully)
The first Cabernet from our new source vineyard at Joanna, right next door to our original vineyard (see HISTORY for a bit of background) and right on the classic ‘terra-rossa-over-limestone’ soil that produces great red wines. RECOMMENDED – Winestate Sept/Oct 2008.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 (Wrattonbully) SOLD OUT
GOLD & TROPHY – Winewise 2006 Small Vigneron Awards. A classic, elegant Cabernet from classic Cabernet land. Gold, Trophy – what else can we say?

Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 (Wratonbully)
Sister wine to the 2002 and not a bit embarrassed in its company. Plenty of years still left in both the wines. BEST 100 – Adelaide Advertiser selection November 2004.
